About Me

Hey there, my name is Kashif. I am a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park where I pursued a Major in Computer Science and a Minor in Statistics. My work interests are in Software Engineering and Machine Learning, with the goal of improving peoples' lives.
Born and raised in New Jersey, my interest in the technology field grew in high school. From taking part in high school FIRST Robotics competitions to being involved in a Software Engineering club at UMD, working with technology to solve challenges has been a big part of my life.
When it comes to downtime, some things I enjoy are running, volleyball, trying out new foods with friends, and learning languages.

Experience

Axtria
From July to September in 2021, I worked for Axtria as a Mobile Application Developer Intern in the R&D Department.
The main project of the my internship was researching Salesforce's Mobile SDK to develop a prototype app that can efficiently transition between online and offline modes. In particular, this meant creating an app that could function as normal when online, but also save changes locally when offline and sync data back to the Salesforce server when connection is restored. I was able to complete this, and towards the end of my internship I started to implement the functionality into one of the modules in an Axtria application.
I began the internship with experience programming Android apps in Kotlin and no experience with Salesforce. To succeed in this internship, I had to learn Salesforce along with their way of building apps with Lightning Web Components, and comprehend hybrid mobile apps in Salesforce's Mobile SDK. During this time, I was able to expand on my past knowledge of Javascript and Android Studio.
Technologies and apps I worked with were Salesforce, Salesforce's Mobile SDK, Cordova, Git, Android Studio, and more.

Dow Jones
In the summer of 2020 I had the opportunity to take part in a virtual Summer Technology Program offered by Dow Jones.
Despite the coronavirus, the other selected participants and I managed to gain valuable insights about their tech stack, data science process at the Wall Street Journal, and much more from panels with their engineers, the CTO, and others. More can be learned about the program from this Medium article written by one of our facilitators: "Our Summer Interns."
